About/Bio

Daniella is an MA architect and self-taught artist based in Hitchin, UK. She trained in Architecture at ITESM in Monterrey, Mexico, and earned a Master’s in Architecture from Greenwich University, UK. After 12 years working as an architect in countries such as Bolivia, the UK, Switzerland, and Brazil, she followed her passion for art, channeling her creativity into vibrant, expressive acrylic paintings. Her time abroad inspires the color, energy, and cultural richness of her paintings. Led by her architectural background, she naturally considers composition, balance, and space, while letting color and instinct guide each painting.

     Artist Statement: Viscerism

I paint not from the eye, but from the gut. My work begins without a subject or plan —           just the urgent need to create. Using palette knives, I layer color guided by instinct and           feeling. I don’t design the image; it reveals itself. Each painting is a construction of                   feeling — a moment of internal truth made visible.

Viscerism is painting as emergence rather than representation. The canvas becomes a            space where something raw and emotional can take shape — not abstract, not figurative,        but something truly felt.

“When I paint, my focus is on the interplay of color and composition. I work exclusively with palette knives of various sizes. Layer by layer, the image emerges subconsciously, taking form as if from within. Once it appears, I build it with color, much like constructing architecture — but without a blueprint. It comes from inside."

The Process
As I paint

I follow the image as it emerges, building multiple layers of color as if searching for an answer, letting the work reveal itself naturally. I then fine-tune the composition, balancing every element until the piece feels complete, much like conducting an orchestra. I leave the painting open-ended, allowing meaning to be discovered by the viewer.

Through my artwork

I aim to transmit feeling rather than illustrate, inviting each viewer to meet my inner world and bring their own experiences to the piece. I strive to create works that are alive, instinctive, and emotional — a shared experience between painting and observer.

The Intention

I don’t illustrate — I intend to transmit. The image appears, and I follow it. I shape it. I make it real. My goal is to create a space where color, texture, and instinct converge, letting emotion speak louder than form.
